Dr. April Mitchell grew up on a horse farm in Monroe, Georgia. She graduated from Monroe Area High School with a scholarship to Mercer University. At Mercer, Dr. Mitchell graduated with a major in biology and a minor in chemistry. While in college, she spent a summer in Kenya studying wildlife management. After her return to the States, she worked for the College of Veterinary Medicine as a large animal intern for 1 year before going to work in Alpharetta for Dr. Horner and Nash at their equine practice.
Dr. Mitchell returned to Monroe in 2002 and joined the Monroe Veterinary Clinic practice. Dr. Bragg, who started the Monroe Veterinary Clinic in 1949, was her childhood hero and she decided at the age of 3 that she was going to be a veterinarian. Dr. Mitchell purchased the Monroe Veterinary Clinic from Dr. Wall and Dr. Gross in 2011. Dr. Mitchell feels honored to have been able to fulfill her lifelong dream of working and owning the Monroe Veterinary Clinic that treated her beloved pets - both large and small - while growing up in Monroe.
Building on years of success in Monroe, Dr. Mitchell fulfilled her dream of extending compassionate care to more pets by opening Willow Animal Clinic in 2024.
Dr. Mitchell currently lives in Monroe with her, her son, her precious dogs, cats, and horses. She enjoys horseback riding, hiking, and most of all spending time with her human and pet family. Dr. Mitchell also knows how fortunate she is to have a profession where she gets to help and love dogs and cats every day.
Dr. Anderson is originally from Spartanburg, SC and has lived in Georgia since 1997 when she started attending the College of Veterinary Medicine at the University of Georgia. Dr. Anderson received a BS in Animal Science from Clemson University where she was active in the Block and Bridle Club, the Pre-Vet Club and Kappa Alpha Theta Sorority. Dr. Anderson also earned admission to the Golden Key Honor Society and Mortar Board Honor Society. She graduated Magna Cum Laude.
During her time in veterinary school, Dr. Anderson worked on the Large Animal Teaching Hospital Barn Crew and was an active member of the Omega Tau Sigma Fraternity where she served as Pledge Class President, Social Chairman and President. She graduated Cum Laude in 2001.
Dr. Anderson competed a 1 year internship at Veterinary Specialists of Rochester NY after graduating and then returned to Georgia to work at an after hours emergency clinic in Gwinnett County. She joined the team at MVC in 2013.
In her time away from work Dr. Anderson enjoys spending time with her family, which includes 3 cats. She is an avid mountain biker and also enjoys running, hiking, backpacking, working out and cooking.
Shonna is a native of Walton County and has always had a passion for pets - especially cats. She began her career with Monroe Veterinary Clinic in 1998 and is now the Practice Manager. Her day-to-day operations consist of managing all of the employees within the practice, bookkeeping, accounting, payroll, and assisting where needed. She is a proud member of GAVMA.
Shonna resides in Monroe with her husband and daughter. They have 3 dogs and 7 cats. She enjoys shopping, going to the beach, traveling, visiting antique stores, and spending time with her family and friends.
A Walton County native and Monroe Area Comprehensive High School graduate, Eva's passion for animals led her to Monroe Veterinary Clinic. While her early career began at a local grocery store, where she excelled in customer service and bookkeeping, she simultaneously pursued her veterinary interests, enrolling in Gwinnett Technical College's Veterinary Technician Program in 2010. That same year, she joined Monroe Veterinary Clinic as a receptionist, quickly rising to Head Receptionist in 2011.
Today, Eva combines her expertise in client relations with her love for animals, managing both Willow Animal Clinic and Monroe Veterinary Clinic’s social media and marketing. She connects with the community, sharing the clinic's dedication to animal health and client satisfaction. This role allows her to fulfill her childhood dream of working with animals while providing exceptional service.
In her free time, Eva enjoys fitness, baking, music, and spending time with her husband, two sons, three dogs, and two cats.
Katie has been a dedicated member of the veterinary field since 2008. Starting as a receptionist, she progressed to become a skilled veterinary assistant. She thrives on rewarding interactions with both clients and patients.
A Walton County resident, Katie shares her home with her husband and three beloved dogs, Chunky, Pablo, and Socks. She joined the Willow Animal Clinic team in 2024 and also contributes her expertise at the sister clinic, Monroe Veterinary Clinic, where she has been a valued member since 2014. Katie is committed to her career and looks forward to many more years in the veterinary industry.
Hayley grew up in Upson, Georgia and has been surrounded by veterinary medicine her entire life. Animals have always been a huge part of she is - She currently has four horses, three dogs and two cats. When she is not working or caring for her animals, she spends most of her time cheering on her Son and staying busy with his sports.
Tanya’s love for animals began early, as a California kid that was notorious for bringing random critters home. Tanya and her family moved to Georgia where her passion led to a fulfilling 26-year career in veterinary medicine. Today, she shares her life with her two children, her feline companions, Tails and Snape, and her loyal dog, Zola. When not caring for animals, Tanya enjoys quality time with family and friends.
Monroe native Rachel is passionate about animals and dedicated to their care. A Walnut Grove High School graduate, she earned her associate's degree from Georgia State University and is now pursuing her animal science bachelor's at UGA, with plans to attend their College of Veterinary Medicine. Rachel shares her life with her dog, Bella, and enjoys Netflix and time with loved ones in her free time.
Kristina is a skilled groomer at Willow Animal Clinic, and a versatile team member who also supports other departments. A Morgan County resident, she's passionate about raising orphaned farm animals. Kristina's love for animals extends to her own pets—a golden retriever, pit bull mix, cat, and five sheep she bottle-raised. Her grooming passion developed during veterinary technician studies, where she discovered the joy of revealing the hidden potential in every pet's coat.
